SOLILOQUY IN DUET

Copyright; 2003 Mark Robert Gates

A string of pearls that one thought,
Priceless idea, treasured concept,
Exquisite expression I caught,
The must do rendition I kept.
Mighty self-centered say that I must,
Pursue in uninhibited lust.

Still it goes on, no one listening to it,
Soliloquy in duet.
The two person's shadows, silhouette,
Eclipse light from the other and subdue it.
Never ending disagreement standing tall,
Any conversation without topic at all.

No rebuttal, without emotion, no reply,
Concrete canons echo in the hall,
Ego forced wisdom without sigh,
History loses, words drop as they fall,
Powerful mania in which I trust
Renders them ashes and to dust.

Still it goes on, no one listening to it,
Soliloquy in duet.
The two person's shadows, silhouette,
Eclipse light from the other and subdue it.
Never ending disagreement standing tall,
Any conversation without topic at all.

No meeting in the middle here
No blending of two different tones
We’ve conquered the fight clear
And mix together like two stones.
Forever onward, refusing to bust,
The only softening what turns to rust.

Still it goes on, no one listening to it,
Soliloquy in duet.
The two person's shadows, silhouette,
Eclipse light from the other and subdue it.
Never ending disagreement standing tall,
Any conversation without topic at all.

For punctuation I swear I cussed,
And ended on a note we never discussed.
