A SONG FOR NEXT YEAR

© 2001 Mark Robert Gates

Unlike in the past
And not the same in the future,
I am liquid every
Changing moment of my present.
Love poured out of every heart
Soaks emotion pure,
Given not to be forsaken,
I accept the jeweled vibrant.

Chorus: For this year I am reborn
In our open days of growth,
And you and I are love
And our life lives for the moment.
We have every thought and feeling,
“Yes! I swore on oath!”
And the whole world will have to come up,
With us went,
For now that we are on top of the world,
Up will take us both.

Never finding my person
In the reflection of others sorrow,
My image elevates as high
As the farthest glimmer of light.
And when I don’t look for me in you,
My quivers for tomorrow,
No belly for me to fatten,
Just the glory of your sight.

Chorus

Nikes hit the peg and if we’re running,
We’re in barefeet closer,
We grow, when we grow closer
And we need growing,
The bottom can do without our life,
Let’s give it up for sure,
Distance between us,
And the up boundary, throwing.

Chorus

Our heart enlarges,
Its limitations overshadowed by our praise,
Aflame, alight, burning,
Engulfed we pursue this career.
Our view of ourselves and the way we see it
Get a lofty raise,
As in the past, treasured,
We cherish what we hear.

Chorus

Faithfulness and esteem draw us closer,
Pooling serene,
A greenhouse flooding, peaceful,
Lilting, bubbling spring,
A floral decadence carpets our loving,
Calming, joining scene,
You and I find the admiration building
And a painting sing.

Chorus

Mind frame, thoughtful posture,
Gracious bouquet of serotonin
Reaches beyond what was before
And overlaps limitless.
We altogether, us and we,
Unite together in our eternal win
And see ourselves fortunate
To share in every Goddess’ bless.

Chorus: For this year I am reborn
In our open days of growth,
And you and I are love
And our life lives for the moment.
We have every thought and feeling,
“Yes! I swore on oath!”
And the whole world will have to come up,
With us went,
For now that we are on top of the world,
Up will take us both.
